Edit Auto-Assign Ticket Areas on the Map
In this article, you will learn how to edit Auto-Assign Ticket areas on the map. These steps will work for either newly created areas, or already existing areas pulled from GeoJSON files. Only users with Admin permissions will be able to make these changes in the Admin app.
Instructions
- Open the Admin app and select the 811 Codes tab.
- Click on the Map icon at the end of the row for the desired Account.

- Your map will open with all current Assignment Areas already in place. You can edit any areas on the map using the following tools: Split, Merge, or Clip. You can also edit any area's Name or Assigned User in the Info Panel.
- Split Area: To divide an area, first select it on the map. The boundary line will turn blue. Then using the Edit Shape widget in the lower right of the screen, select Split. Now you can draw whatever new boundary line you need with 2 or more points. Double-click when the new boundary is complete. If the new boundary line goes off of the selected area, it will not affect any non-selected areas. Once the split is complete, you will be able to rename the new areas and assign a user to each of them.

5. Merge Area: To merge two existing areas, select the first area (the boundary line will turn blue) and then use the Edit Shape widget in the lower right of the screen to select Merge. Then select the second area. If both of the selected areas are the correct ones that you want to merge, then confirm by clicking on Merge in the dialog box. Once the merge is complete, you will be able to rename the new area and assign a user to it.

- Clip Area: To create a new area that takes over space from an existing area, you will use the Clip tool. For instructions to add a new area, see this article: Add Auto-Assign Ticket Areas on the Map. In the images below, there are three existing areas and a fourth is created that takes space from two of the existing areas. Once it is drawn, select the new area, then click Clip in the Edit Shape widget on the lower right. This assigns all overlapping space to the new region and removes it from the existing ones. Conversely, to protect space in an existing area when a new area overlaps it, select the original existing area, then click Clip. This ensures the overlapping space stays with the original region instead of being absorbed by the new one.
Note: Because the tool's behavior depends completely on your active selection, always double-check that you have the correct area selected before clicking Clip. The selected area will be outlined in blue.

- The other way that you can edit Auto-Assigned Ticket Areas in the admin app is to use the Info Panel located to the left of the map. In this panel, you will see a list of all of the existing areas, their names, and which user will be assigned the tickets that come in for that area. You can edit all of that information by using the More Options menu at the end of each row. The eye icon also allows you to toggle the visibility of each area on the map.

Success! You can now edit the Auto-Assign Ticket Areas for your organization.
